Chris Burch’s resort Nihiwatu named best hotel in the world

Travelers looking to stay in world’s best hotel won’t find it in New York City, Tokyo or any other major city. The hotel Travel & Leisure named 2016’s best, Nihiwatu, sits on a remote island in Indonesia.

It began as a hostel. In 2012, businessman Chris Burch and hotelier James McBride bought the property from its New Jersey owners. The partners invested three years and $30 million in renovations. In 2015, they reopened it as a five-star resort.

Staying true to his fashion industry roots, Chris Burch designed the resort on the island of Sumba with the same care as the brands he founded or co-founded – C. Wonder and Tory Burch. Though a hotel may seem an odd choice, Burch has used his entrepreneurial skills on a wide variety of companies from ED by Ellen DeGeneres to Cocoon9 to Poppin.

Burch told Business Jet Traveler that he bought it for his children so they could be part of preserving the unique area while giving back to the community. The Burch family’s resort is meeting those goals. It is the largest local employer. It donates a percentage of the resort’s profits to the Sumba Foundation, a philanthropy that funds projects that aid the island community.

What makes Nihiwatu so special? It believes less is more. No highrise hotel dwarfs the beach. Instead, the resort offers 27 private villas for rent, including Raja Mendaka, Burch’s home. Each villa has its own plunge pool. The pool at Raja Mendaka offers a view of Nihi Beach and the Indian Ocean. Vacationers will also find a vast indoor-outdoor entertaining area. For more of this, have a peek on

Visitors can stay in a high rise of sorts – a tree house. The resorts offers two, each a two-story structure. A bamboo bridge connects the tree houses. Each features a bedroom, bathroom, and balcony. The main tree house features a living room and infinity pool. Burch and McBride chose a local theme for decoration of each villa. Each is appointed with traditional Sumbanese antiques and Ikat prints with construction of local wood.

What would a resort be without a spa? Nihiwatu’s is on the beach. Visitors can also experience in-room spa services. Nihiwatu’s wellness center offers yoga classes and private instruction. Reserve a surfing spot for $125. True to its uncrowded nature, the resort only allows ten surfers in the water at once. Individual surfing lessons cost $250. The hotel also offers guided hikes to waterfalls and blue lagoons, and guided horseback-riding trips.  Check on for related articles.

Those ready to plan their vacation to Nihiwatu might want to aim for the off season when rentals start at $750 per night for a one-bedroom villa. This dreamy island paradise could provide the perfect honeymoon or anniversary vacation.  Visit this important site.

Patty Rocklage and Investment in Science Research

Patty Rocklage and her husband are living proof that you do not have to be incredibly wealthy to contribute to the advancement of research and the improvement of humanity as a whole. A well-known psychologist and therapist, Patty Rocklage decided last year to join her husband in making one of the biggest donations that MIT received from private donors in the past year. According to statements made by the couple, the gift was meant to be a sign of gratitude by the family to the University of giving them the foundation that they have since used to build their lives and also to advance their careers.

Scott Rocklage, the husband to Patty Rocklage, is a former student of MIT and he studied there for his doctorate under the capable hands of Professor Richard Schrock, a former Nobel laureate, in the university’s Department of Chemistry. As a gift to the institution for giving him his first break in life, Dr. Rocklage and is wife Patty Rocklage decided to donate some funds. The funds were used in the renovation of Lester Wolfe Professor of Chemistry, Moungi Bawendi nanotechnology and nanochemistry lab. The lab was not in the shape that it once used to be before Professor Bawendi donated with support from two of his graduate student.

In mid last month, the couple toured the institution to inspect the renovations made to the science facility through their donations and were showered with tons of praises from members of the university’s faculty for their generous donation. A plaque bearing the names of the two scientists was also unveiled, and the plaque will be mounted at the facility’s entrance as a further tribute to their contribution. Patty Rocklage has been practicing psychiatry for more than 20 years during which time she has interacted with and given therapy to thousands of patients drawn from different corners of the country. Don Ressler Appeals to Everyone with TechStyle

There is a TechStyle brand that will be able to suit nearly every person no matter what walk of life they are in or what they are able to do with the options that they have. Don Ressler knows this and does what he can to make sure that things are going his way and that people are going to be able to access the options that he has. In a recent interview on, he talked about the changes that are coming to include a wide range of sizes, people who don’t visit the TechStyle sites and even people who don’t want to subscribe to the boxes that they would get.

Before the major change took place, the TechStyle brands were only appealing to people who were of standard size at That is the only option that was available on the majority of sites and that was a problem. There was an entire market that wasn’t getting the right kind of access that they needed to be able to shop for the clothes that they were sure to love. It was a problem that Don Ressler knew that he had to fix to make sure that things would go better for the people who were in different situations.

When each of the changes took place, Don Ressler also realized that people would need to make sure that they were getting what they could from the different aspects of the business. It was something that he saw as an opportunity but also something that he wanted to be careful with because he didn’t want to compete with himself. The Amazon route was the idea that he had to make sure that he could reach more people and so that he would be able to show people that there were more products available instead of just what was on the site on Zimbio.

The other change that happened with the TechStyle brands is that they were able to bring change for different opportunities. For example, people no longer have to subscribe to the boxes. They can and they will be required to get an account but they can also buy items from the TechStyle brands without a subscription. It adds another level of being able to serve customers that Don Ressler knows is important for his brand to help people get the best experience possible with the options that they have to be able to use for their benefits.
